What is fractional shares trading?

Fractional share trading allows investors to purchase a portion of a whole share. Fractional share trading can lower transaction costs, as investors can buy the exact dollar amount they want without having to purchase whole shares. This provides greater flexibility in managing portfolios and reduces the cost of entering the market.

Which stocks are eligible for fractional share trading?

You can find stocks that support fractional share trading via the "Market" tab → "Market" category → "US" → "Classification" → "Fractional Shares"

Alternatively, eligible stocks can also be identified by the fractional trading icon on the top right of individual stock pages.

How to trade fractional shares

• Select a stock that supports US fractional share trading.
• Enter a fractional quantity to place your order, or;
• Select "Amount" and enter the dollar amount you want to invest, and the system will automatically calculate the corresponding number of shares based on the current share price.

Corporate actions for fractional shares

Fractional shares are eligible for mandatory corporate actions, including dividend distributions and stock splits. However, voluntary corporate actions, such as rights offerings or tender offers, are generally not available for fractional shares.

The trading process remains unchanged.

For stock splits or reverse stock splits, clients may receive fractional shares. For example, if a stock undergoes a 10-for-1 reverse split and an investor holds 5 shares, they would receive 0.5 shares post-split.

What are the trading hours supported for U.S. fractional share orders?

Fractional shares are only tradable during regular market hours, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM (Eastern Time). If there is an early closing, trading hours will be from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM (Eastern Time).

What are the order types supported for U.S. fractional share trading?

Fractional share orders only support limit orders and market orders. Conditional orders or grid orders are not currently supported.

Does fractional share trading in U.S. stocks support margin or short selling?

Fractional shares cannot be shorted. Fractional shares support unified buying power, and the margin interest rate is the same as for whole shares.

Does fractional share trading in U.S. stocks support order modifications?

Fractional share orders cannot be modified. If you need to adjust an order, you must first cancel it and then place a new order.

Is there a minimum order requirement for fractional shares?

The minimum order size for fractional trading is 0.0001 shares, and a minimum buy order amount of USD 1.
