Nvidia Taiwan’s office and an employee’s home were raided by prosecutors as part of a high-profile case of smuggling high-end Super Micro Computer AI servers to China in violation of export controls, media report, adding one Nvidia employee has been detained as a prime suspect. The search was the third in as many months and led to the seizure of Nvidia B300-equipped AI servers. A total of 7 people from 3 companies have now been detained incommunicado in the Taiwan case. Iran announced that they are not "at a full scale war with US". Markets recovered slightly following the news as oil tumbles back between $90 and $100. I wouldn't take anything for granted, especially when we are in the midst of earnings season, where volatility is completely expected and normal. With more big cap companies reporting this week and the past trend of Capex dragging down share prices, I won't be surprised to see more dips coming.

The outcome of the peace negotiations is still up in the air, when Trump is one of the parties involved. I expect local banks to hit new high as the next earnings are expected to be good.

Brent crude oil is falling significantly back to around $90, following a pause in strikes by the US and Iran over the weekend, although negotiations are ongoing rather than an official ceasefire; it closed at $96.28 on Friday after trading above $100 for several weeks.

The 顺势 (following the trend) decline in oil prices is a positive development for energy-importing Singapore.

The company disclosed a record over US$60 billion AI infrastructure backlog, while preliminary FY2026 Q4 results pointed to revenue approaching US$11 billion and gross margins recovering to 15–17%, a sharp improvement from prior guidance. The recovery suggests pricing power is returning as high-value AI systems become a larger share of sales.

CEO Charles Liang also highlighted Supermicro’s collaboration with SpaceX to build next-generation AI data centres, reinforcing the company’s evolution from a server manufacturer into an end-to-end AI infrastructure provider. This expands its addressable market and differentiates it from peers such as Dell, HPE and Lenovo, which remain more exposed to traditional enterprise hardware refresh cycles.

Technically, SMCI has regained bullish momentum after reclaiming key moving averages on improving volume, although near-term volatility remains elevated following its sharp rally. Fundamentally, a record backlog, recovering margins and AI infrastructure demand improve earnings visibility and could mark a new dawn for the company.

For options investors, the short-term favours selling cash-secured puts or put credit spreads to capitalise on elevated implied volatility, while mid-term investors may consider bull call spreads or LEAPS call options to participate in continued AI-driven upside with defined risk. Increased capex is good actually for AI infrastructure stocks so you have to look at where the money is flowing. Big tech needs to invest to stay relevant.

In all honesty, at this moment of time, you have to look at the beneficiaries of the AI buildout not the hyperscalers. The hyperscalers are cash machines building for the future so they are using their cash flows to invest.

Oil prices remain high for a long period, how much is the impact on the world economy? are we going to pay the bill where the TACO created the problem?

With oil prices likely to go up and remain high for longer, there may be upside for alternatives like sustainable fuel and green energy.

SMCI continues to impress during earnings season, but the stock hasn't had it easy for years. Every time a great news came about, it was quickly followed by a negative sentiment, be it from the smuggling of Nvidia chips or accounting problem. Yet I believe in its potential to exploit more opportunities collaborating with top companies, as long as the business remain transparent and ethical.
