An attached order (also known as "child order") refers to an order attached to a current order (also known as "parent order") and is used for closing the parent order's position. The attached order will be submitted only after the parent order is fully filled and the price target is met.
An attached/ child order can be placed through order ticket when submitting parent order, regardless of whether it is a buy or short sell order. By default, no attached order (also known as "none") will be placed.
There are 3 types of attached order strategies available:
By placing profit taker attached order, a limit order with price target equal to profit taker price will be submitted once the parent order has been successfully filled and the profit taker price is hit.
Should the parent order be a buy order, the profit taker price must be higher than the price of the parent order. Conversely, should the parent order be a short sell order, the profit taker price must be lower than the price of the parent order.
Validity of the attached order can also be specified as "Valid for the day", "Good Till Cancelled" and "Good Till Date".
By placing stop loss attached order, a limit order with price target equal to stop loss price will be submitted once the parent order has been successfully filled and the stop loss price is hit.
Should the parent order be a buy order, the stop loss price must be lower than the price of the parent order. Conversely, should the parent order be a short sell order, the stop loss price must be higher than the price of the parent order.
Validity of the attached order can also be specified as "Valid for the day", "Good Till Cancelled" and "Good Till Date".
By bracket attached order, a limit order with price target equal to profit taker price or stop loss price will be submitted once the parent order has been successfully filled and either profit taking or stop loss condition meets the price target first.
Should the parent order be a buy order, the profit taker price must be higher than the price of the parent order, while the stop loss price must be lower than the price of the parent order.
Conversely, should the parent order be a short sell order, the profit taker price must be lower than the price of the parent order, while the stop loss price must be higher than the price of the parent order.
Validity of the attached order can also be specified as "Valid for the day", "Good Till Cancelled" and "Good Till Date".
Notes
A parent order is either a buy or short sell order. A short sell order will be declined if you have positions to sell, and a buy order will be declined if you have positions to buy back.
The risk assessment of an attached order will be conducted only after the parent order is fully filled and the price target of the attached order is met. If child order does not pass the trading limit/ risk assessment, the execution of child orders will fail.
After the parent order is fully filled, the resulting positions will not be frozen. If there is any other trade that leads to a change of positions, the triggered attached order may fail the risk assessment.
When a child order in a bracket is cancelled or declined, the opposing pair child order will also be processed in the same way.
If you modify the quantity of a parent order before the parent order is fully filled, the quantity of the attached order will be automatically modified to the same amount.
A profit taker and stop loss order will only be triggered during continuous trading hours and will not be triggered during the overnight, pre-opening and post-market session.
If the parent order is not fully filled before the order expires, the attached order will be cancelled (not triggered) upon the expiry of the parent order.
All attached orders will be cancelled automatically if the parent order is cancelled.
All attached orders will be deleted automatically if the parent order is deleted.
