Accredited Investor (AI)

What is an Accreditor Investor (AI)?

An Accredited Investor (AI) is someone who meets the requirements set out by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and has opted in to be treated as an AI by financial institutions. AIs are assumed to be better informed and better able to access resources to protect their own interests.

What are the benefits of becoming an Accredited Investor (AI)?

An Accredited Investor (AI) generally has access to a wider range of financial products and services including restricted products like IPOs, structured notes, equity linked notes, and selected bonds.

For example, if you want to subscribe for IPOs in the HK and US market as an AI, you will not be subject to the subscription minimum of 200,000 SGD (or equivalent in foreign currency).

How do I qualify as an AI?

Any investor who meets any one of the qualifying criteria and has opted in to be treated as an Accredited Investor:

  • Income in the preceding 12 months is not less than SGD300,000 (or its equivalent in a foreign currency)
  • Net personal assets exceeding SGD2 million (or its equivalent in a foreign currency) in value, of which the net value of the investor's primary place of residence can only contribute up to SGD1 million
  • Net Financial Assets exceeding SGD1 million (or its equivalent in a foreign currency) in value

Where “financial asset” means:

  • a deposit as defined in section 4B of the Singapore Banking Act (Cap. 19)
  • an investment product as defined in section 2(1) of the Financial Advisers Act (Cap. 110)
  • any other asset prescribed as a “financial asset” for the purposes of establishing accredited investor status by MAS

If I have declared as an AI at other financial institutions, do I still need to declare at Long Bridge Securities Pte. Ltd. ?

Yes, you have to declare at Long Bridge Securities Pte. Ltd. with supporting documents.

Can financial assets in other financial institution be considered as part of my net financial assets?
