What is a Dormant Account?

A dormant account is an account that has not had any activity for an extended period. To safeguard your account and comply with relevant requirements, Longbridge HK Limited ("LBHK") will temporarily suspend trading and fund movement on such accounts until you complete the reactivation process.

1. How an account becomes dormant

If your account has not had any "activity" (defined below) for 24 consecutive months, the system will automatically flag it as dormant.

2. What counts as "activity"?

Any of the following counts as activity:

  • Trading: orders to buy or sell stocks, options, ETFs, virtual assets, funds, or Cash Plus
  • Fund movement: deposits, withdrawals, securities transfers in or out, foreign-exchange conversions, transfers between main and sub-accounts
  • Corporate actions: dividends, dividend reinvestments, stock splits, bonus shares, share consolidations, or other corporate actions that change your holdings or cash balance

The following do NOT count as activity

  • Merely logging in, viewing market data, holdings, or statements
  • Interest, margin interest, platform fees, or refunds posted automatically by the system

💡 In short, as long as your account has had any of the activities above over the past 24 months — including passive ones such as dividends or stock splits — your account will not become dormant.

3. What happens when your account becomes dormant

Once your account is flagged as dormant:

  • Trading is suspended: you cannot buy or sell stocks, options, ETFs, virtual assets, funds, or Cash Plus
  • Fund movement is suspended: no deposits, withdrawals, securities transfers, FX, or main-/sub-account transfers
  • Your holdings, cash balance, and trade history are not affected
  • Passive corporate actions (such as dividends and stock splits) continue to be processed normally
  • LBHK does not charge any monthly fee or dormancy fee while your account is dormant

4. How to reactivate your account

You can use any of the following channels:

Information you may need to update

Depending on your circumstances, the App will list the documents you need. These may include proof of identity, proof of address, occupation details, tax residency declaration, and source of wealth.

Processing time

  • If your information has not changed and your case meets the criteria, the system may approve reactivation instantly
  • If manual review is required: typically 1 to 3 business days, depending on your circumstances
  • If we need additional documents from you, the timeline restarts from the date we receive the complete supporting documents

5. Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. If I do not plan to trade for a long time, will my account be closed automatically?

No. A dormant account will not be closed automatically. You may keep it indefinitely; whenever you wish to trade again, simply apply to reactivate.

Q2. I log in to view market data regularly — why is my account still dormant?

Logging in and viewing market data are passive actions and do not count as "activity". To prevent dormancy, you need to place an actual trade, make a fund movement, or have a corporate action change your holdings.

Q3. I receive dividends regularly — will my account go dormant?

No. Dividends, stock splits, bonus shares, and other corporate actions count as account activity.

Q4. My sub-account has activity — will my main account still go dormant?

No. Longbridge looks at your overall account activity, including the main account and all sub-accounts.
