The free Transfer Assets In feature lets you move eligible stocks, ETFs, and cash from an account at another brokerage firm directly into your Longbridge account. Cost basis information for eligible securities is generally transferred from the delivering brokerage when available.

Note
Transfers are processed through the DTCC system and coordinated between both brokerages. Processing typically takes up to 7 business days.

Before You Begin — Eligibility Checklist

To ensure a smooth transfer, confirm the following before submitting your request:

Assets:

  • No pending trades in the sending account
  • No pending deposits or withdrawals in the sending account
  • Only eligible stocks, ETFs, and cash can be transferred — options positions are not eligible for transfer

Account:

  • Your SSN or ITIN must match on both accounts
  • The account owner name must match on both accounts
  • Account types must be the same (e.g., both are individual taxable accounts)
  • No transfer restrictions on either account
Important
Options positions cannot be transferred. However, you can place new equity option trades with Longbridge after your transfer is complete.

How to Submit a Transfer-In Request

Step 1 — Open the Transfer page

  1. Tap Transfer on the Portfolio screen.
  2. Tap Transfer assets.
  3. On the What would you like to do? screen, tap Transfer assets in.

Step 2 — Enter your sending brokerage information

On the Where are you transferring from? screen, fill in the details of the account you are transferring from:

  • Brokerage name — tap to select from the list. If your brokerage is not listed, select Other and enter the brokerage name and DTC number manually.
  • Account number — enter your account number at the sending brokerage (letters, numbers, and hyphens only; up to 30 characters).

Tap Next once all fields are filled in and validated.

Note
If a brokerage is shown as Ineligible in the list, it is currently not supported for transfer-in.

Step 3 — Confirm the transfer requirements

Review the checklist on the Transfer into Longbridge screen. Check both the Assets and Account boxes to confirm you have read and verified the requirements, and then tap Next.

You will then be prompted to choose between two transfer types:

  • All assets — transfer your entire account balance (all eligible stocks, ETFs, and cash)
  • Partial assets — select specific stocks, ETFs, and/or cash to transfer

Step 4A — Transfer all assets

If you select All assets, you will go directly to the confirmation screen. Review the details and tap Confirm & submit.

Step 4B — Transfer partial assets

If you select Partial assets, you’ll be taken to the Which assets would you like to transfer? screen. From here, add the assets you’d like to transfer:

To add cash:

  1. Tap + Enter amount under the Cash section.
  2. Enter the USD amount you want to transfer and tap Next.

To add stocks or ETFs:

  1. Tap + Add a stock or ETF under the Stocks & ETFs section.
  2. Search by name or ticker symbol and select the stock or ETF you want.
  3. Enter the number of shares (whole numbers only) and tap Add.
  4. Repeat to add more positions.
Note
A partial asset transfer must include at least one stock or ETF. A cash-only partial asset transfer is not allowed. You can transfer cash alongside stocks and ETFs in the same request.

When you have added all the assets you want to transfer, tap Next to go to the confirmation screen.

Step 5 — Review and confirm

The Confirm Your Transfer screen shows:

  • Sending brokerage name and account number
  • Transfer type (All assets or Partial assets)
  • For partial asset transfers: all selected assets — cash amount first, followed by each stock or ETF with its ticker symbol and share count

Read the notices at the bottom of the screen carefully:

  • Your sending brokerage firm may charge a fee for outgoing transfers. Make sure you have sufficient funds to cover any such charges.
  • Transfers are limited to eligible stocks, ETFs, and cash. For questions, contact support@longbridge.com, or reach out to live support in the app.

When everything looks correct, tap Confirm & submit.

After submission, you will see a success screen showing the transfer initiation date and an estimated completion date (up to 7 business days). Tap OK to return to the Transfer page.

Tracking Your Transfer

To check the status of your transfer-in request:

  1. Go to the Transfer page and tap the arrow next to Transfer history.
  2. Filter by Transfer-in in the Type & Status dropdown if needed.
  3. Tap any record to open the Transfer-in Details page, which shows the transfer progress timeline and all asset details.

Canceling a Transfer-In

You can cancel a transfer-in only while it is in the Initiated status — that is, before it has been picked up for processing.

  1. Open the Transfer-in Details page for the request you want to cancel.
  2. Tap Cancel transfer at the bottom.
  3. Tap Yes, cancel to confirm. The request will be withdrawn and the page will refresh.
Note
Transfers can only be canceled before they reach the In progress status. If the status has already changed by the time you attempt to cancel, you'll see a message explaining why the cancellation cannot be completed.

FAQs

Q1: How long does a transfer-in take?

Transfers typically take up to 7 business days, depending on the processing timelines of both brokerage firms and the DTCC clearing process. You can monitor progress under Transfer history.

Q2: Will my cost basis information transfer?

Cost basis information for eligible securities is generally transferred from the delivering brokerage. In some cases, cost basis information may arrive separately from the transferred securities or may require additional processing.

Q3: Can I transfer options positions?

No. Options positions are not eligible for transfer-in. Only stocks, ETFs, and USD cash can be transferred.

Q4: My brokerage is marked as Ineligible — what does this mean?

This means the brokerage is currently not supported for transfer-in.

Q5: Can I submit a partial asset transfer with cash only?

No. A partial asset transfer must include at least one stock or ETF. You may include cash alongside your positions in the same request, but cash alone does not qualify as a partial asset transfer.

Q6: My transfer is partially completed — what happened?

Some of your requested positions were transferred successfully, while others were not (for example, a position may have been sold or become ineligible in the interim).
